Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Civil Engineer - Wet Utilities to join our award-winning team based in Porto, Portugal

 

We envisage success in this role to include:

  • Receiving a brief from Project Manager / Team Leader or Senior Engineer;
  • Producing design information as outlined in the design brief and the design philosophy in line with authorities requirements and as agreed with the Project Manager/Team Leader;
  • Preparing and reviewing design hydraulic models for the different hydraulic networks (potable water, irrigation, firefighting, sanitary and storm-water);
  • Ensuring all calculations are prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Authority Standards and Codes of Practice as per the project location and requirements;
  • Preparing and reviewing of technical reports, design drawings, and other deliverables.
  • Coordinating and technical guidance to CAD Drafters to produce drawings.
  • Coordinating with other disciplines to achieve a fully integrated design.
  • Preparing and presenting of design philosophies in high-quality presentations.
  • Attending of on-line client meetings, as necessary.
  • Liaising with the Client and Authority representatives to obtain design approvals, as necessary.
  • Continuing acquisition of new technical skills and development of a career development plan with goals and commitments (e.g. additional engineering software, technical skills, etc).
  • Striving for improvement of current practices in the workplace, whether through new software, work flowcharts and checklists, procedures or other innovative drives.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 2 + years work experience partnered with a Bachelor degree in an Engineering discipline related to Wet Utilities.

 

Along with this, we are looking for a candidate with;

  • Good knowledge of hydraulic networks and design concepts.
  • Good reasoning skills, good attention to detail and proficient with various computer programs (mainly software required/ approved by Authorities)
  • Good communication, presentation, and time management skills.
  • An advanced level in the English language is mandatory

You will have strong experience in the following tools;

  • Proficiency in hydraulic pipelines modeling software, such as EPANET, SWMM or other equivalent.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD.
  • InDesign knowledge is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS and Autodesk Civil 3D is an advantage, especially for gravity and pressurised network design and modelling.
